Care and maintenance (exterior)
It’s important to take care of and maintain your bamboo products periodically when installed outside to not only protect them from our sometimes harsh climate and keep them looking newer for longer, but also to ensure you don’t void your warranty.
All our bamboo products are pre-oiled with 3 coats of Woca Exterior Timber Oil - a premium, water-based oil which provides its colour via non-fugitive pigments.
Our ideal oil treatment plan is simple; apply an additional coat of Woca Exterior Timber Oil within 3 months of the initial installation, then once every 12 months thereafter.
The following requirements are in place to ensure the performance, appearance and texture of the bamboo remains healthy.
Bamboo should never be installed in a way that causes it to be in constant contact with water, moisture or sand/soil. Refer to our specialist team for installation advice.
Ensure you don’t allow dust, dirt or grime to build up on the bamboo material. Sweep and/or hose down your bamboo as required to prevent this.
You must oil your bamboo, on all accessible surfaces, a minimum of once every 12 months to provide its minimum protection. Woca Outdoor Timber Oil is the recommended product as this is what has passed vigorous testing and is what our products are coated in from the factory. It provides a strong water and dirt-repellent surface, enhances the natural colour and grain of the bamboo, contains a UV filter and protects the bamboo from deterioration.
Note - The physical location, orientation and exposure to the elements will affect the ideal frequency of re-oiling. If your bamboo looks like it is dehydrated, more regular oiling is recommended to nourish its internal fibres and reinvigorate its external appearance.
If you’re following the above requirements and still have any concerns about the performance or condition of your bamboo, contact us immediately sales@aspirebamboo.com so we can get straight on to helping you with the situation.
